Pat Pat Patty Pan lol

So tonight we had chicken leg quarters seasoned and cooked on the grill, I love when hubby cooks outside, #1 reason is that I dont have to, lol, and #2 is that it doesnt heat up the house so bad. For our side dishes we had a broccoli and cauliflower mix, and breaded and fried pattypan squash slices. This has got to be our kids favorite kind of squash, where Keith and I like the yellow summer squash, the kids tear up the pattypans... If you havent tried any I suggest you do they are really good. I would really like to try a few other types of squash as well, maybe next year when we do our own garden again we can try out some different types.

Keith went out this morning and picked a boat load (well almost) of wild (muskadine (sp)) grapes so we have been busy seperating them... Cant wait to have some homemade jelly like my mom used to make yummy! Going to have to keep an eye on Deana however, her little hands are broke out from handling the grapes... gave her some benadryl and it helped a bit. I hope she was just sensitive to the outter husk and acid and not allergic to the whole thing.

Beans, Beans, the magical fruit....

So apparently a pot of my pinto beans are now "to die for"! lol Anytime we have
a family gathering now it is my beans everyone wants. I'm so used to it being my
spaghetti everyone wanted me to make. Anyway, tonight we are going to have a family
gathering with the inlaws outside. We are going to be having brisket, my beans and I'm
not sure what else. Sounds yummy.

Company for supper...

Well our friends were here today so we invited them to stay for supper. We ended up making a huge pot of cheeseburger mac. Seemed to go over real well, everyone ate their fill and went back out to work or play. Another happy night with happy tummies and good attitudes!

Simple can be pleasing!

So last night we had chicken... nothing fancy mind you, just chicken. I took a chicken leg quarter for everyone threw a little seasoning on it (Garlic, onion, salt, pepper) and threw them in the oven at 375 for right at an hour. I made Mac~n~Cheese and green beans for the side. Now I usually split 2 of the leg quarters in half for the 4 youngest kids so that always leaves some left over. Not last night, they all sat down to eat and were fairly quiet which almost never happens. There is usually at least one fight at every meal, but not last night. They ate quietly and went back for seconds on everything. We had no leftovers at all last night which is unusual since I cook extra to have leftovers for lunches or what not thru the week. Looks like Keith and I wont be having a chicken lunch this week lol. Now to go start on supper for tonight... hmmm, decisions decisions.....

Smells YUMMY!!

So for supper tonight I took a pork loin and put it in a roasting pan with about a cup of water, several pats of butter and a can of rotel. Then I took a package of frozen mixed veggies and spread them around the loin and then added a little garlic and onion powder and let it cook on 400 for about 3 hours. I tell you the smell about drove me wild and I dont even like pork loin. I make it once in awhile because it is something the kids really enjoy. Hubby ate frito pie because he doesnt care for pork loin either but I went to the trouble to cook it so I ate it. Now granted it was on bread smothered in mustard but I still ate it. The kids tho loved it ans went back for seconds and a certain little miss went back for 3rds lol. We didnt all get to eat together tonight as 2 of the kids had bible drill, so hubby fed himself and the little ones while I was off to church with one and met the others there.
